Universidad de los Andes is pleased to announce the appointment of Javier Yanez-Arendas, as the new dean of its School of Management
Universidad de los Andes' Board of Trustees has recently appointed Javier Yanez-Arenas as Dean of its School of Management, for a period of two years, as of September 2012.
Javier Yanez-Arenas holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de los Andes (1986), a M.Sc. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Lehigh University (1995) and he is PhD(c) in management from the University of Glasgow.
He has been working at Universidad de los Andes since 1986 and joined the School of Management in 1995 where he has been assistant professor and researcher. He held several positions as Director of the Full Time MBA, the Executive MBA and the Area of Strategy. In addition, he has served as Program Coordinator of Wharton's Global Consulting Practicum in Colombia and coordinator of the MLS-IPSCM program with the International Trade Center - QTO/UNCTAD.
Dean Yanez-Arenas has been a consultant to different corporations like Ecopetrol, Colombia's largest oil and gas company and the Colombian insurance company Colseguros. His research interests are focused on the fields of services innovation, supply chain and strategic sourcing. With the appointment of the new Dean we will continue our commitment towards developing a School that is dedicated to the advancement of high quality management education in a rapid changing environment.
