Over the years Mr. Syed Babar Ali, Chairman of Packages
Limited, has been an invaluable member of the Global Business School Network’s
Board of Directors. As his term on the
Board of Directors ends with the close of 2012, I am pleased and honored to
announce that he will continue to serve as one of GBSN’s trusted advisors.
Babar Ali, an accomplished entrepreneur and industrialist,
led the establishment of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS),
which houses Pakistan’s premier management education institution, the Suleman Dawood
School of Business – a GBSN member School.
He has been instrumental in the development of educational opportunity
in Pakistan. Not only did he found LUMS,
but he also established the Ali Institute of Education for training primary and
secondary teachers and makes education in Pakistan one of the primary
concentrations of philanthropy from the Babar Ali Foundation.
I can unequivocally say that GBSN would
not be the same organization today without his contribution. I look forward to having him as a member of
our Advisory Board and calling on his deep well of knowledge and wisdom to
assist GBSN as we move into our second decade of building management education
capacity for the developing world.
