In January Arnold Ekpe was elected to the GBSN Board of Directors. We welcome him to the GBSN team and look forward to his leadership as GBSN moves into our second decade.
Arnold Ekpe, 60, is currently Honorary President of the UK based Business Council for Africa, a non-executive director of the Nigeria Sovereign Wealth Fund, non-executive director of Lagos listed Dangote Flour Mills, Vice -Chairman of the Frankfurt listed Africa Development Corporation and Chairman of the London listed company, Atlas Mara Limited
Prior to retiring at the end of 2012, Arnold Ekpe served as Group CEO of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated. He was responsible for transforming it from a small West African bank into the first truly pan African banking group, present in more African countries than any other bank.He served as the group's Chief Executive Officer from 2005-2012 and from 1996 to 2001 between which he left to turn around United Bank for Africa as Chief Executive Officer.He has over 30 years of African and international banking experience. He was previously Vice President and Head of Structured Trade and Corporate Finance for Sub-Sahara Africa for Citibank and was a partner with Africa Capital Alliance, the leading West African private equity fund.He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from Manchester University and Manchester Business School respectively.
