Why is the conference being moved?
As many of you are aware there is an on-going Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Although there are no documented cases in Ghana, the President of Ghana issued a 3-month moratorium on international conferences to help stop the potential spread. Additionally, there were rising concerns among member schools about the Ebola crisis, so the decision to move the location was made.
When does Early Bird Registration end?
The deadline for Early Bird Registration has been extended to September 30th in order to give you more time to take advantage of the discounted registration fee. Registration fees remain the same and is currently open. Please click here to find registration information.
Do I require a visa to travel to Spain?
Many countries do not require a visa, however some countries do. Processing times vary from a minimum of 5 business days to over four weeks. For more information and a comprehensive list of countries that do and do not require a visa to travel to Barcelona, visit our logistics page on the conference website, or visit your local Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your country. More general information on what countries require a visa can also be found on the Ghana Embassy in the UK here. Participants are requested to obtain their Spanish Visa immediately.
Will there be a GBSN member meeting?
Yes, the GBSN Member meeting will still occur on Monday, November 3.
Will there be an EFMD Accreditation Seminar?
Yes, the EFMD Accreditation Seminar will still be offered on Monday, November 3.
Given the change in location, will the agenda still focus on Africa?
Yes, the agenda and theme will remain the same except for the change in location to IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. We may have a few speakers unable to travel, but an appropriate replacement will be made.
I’m already registered, what do I do?
If you are already registered, your registration remains valid for the new location. If you have already reserved your hotel during the online registration process, hotel alternatives in Barcelona will be provided. Please cancel any flight arrangements that you may have made to Ghana and if you need a visa to Spain, please start the visa process immediately.
Am I able to get a refund if I am now unable to attend?
If you have already paid and registered and are unable to travel to Barcelona, you will receive a full refund. Please contact the EFMD Registration and Housing Office at email@example.com for your refund.
How can I book my hotel now that the venue has changed?
The conference hotel is not yet final and the information will be updated on the website as soon as available. If you made your hotel reservation during registration process, the EFMD Registration and Housing Office will contact you to provide information on the new available accommodation options. You will also need to notify MCI if your dates have changed. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
What will the weather be like in Barcelona?
In November, the weather in Barcelona is typically dry and cool. The temperature ranges from 12° C (54° F) to 19° C (66° F) with an average temperature of around 18°C (60° F). Our advice is to bring a jacket and an umbrella just in case. The conference will be business casual, and participants are still encouraged to wear traditional dress for the Gala Dinner on Tuesday evening.
