University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business Joins Global Business School Network

College Park, MD, August 17, 2009 — The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced it was named the newest member of the Global Business School Network (GBSN), joining more than 30 other world-leading business schools that make up the international nonprofit organization’s membership. The schools in the network are dedicated to building business leaders in developing economies and share resources and thought leadership to accomplish this mission.

The University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), a GBSN member school, has appointed Professor John Powell, Head of Marketing and Strategy at Cardiff University Business School (CARBS) in Wales, as its new director. Powell brings with him a wealth of international experience, which will further enhance the USB’s global standing and strengthen its reputation as a centre of excellence for business leaders and managers.

GBSN is pleased to announce that the University of Stellenbosch Business School in Cape Town, South Africa has joined our growing network of top business schools. This new membership proceeds from the success of GBSN's 4th Annual Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. We welcome our new member and look forward to fruitful collaborations.

Dar Al-Hekma College hosted the US-Saudi Women's Forum on Social Entrepreneurship on March 2-3, which offered students the opportunity to present their projects to judges, before first, second and third place winners were announced.

The inaugural 2010 PIC Corporate Governance Rating Matrix of the top 40 JSE companies conducted by the University of Stellenbosch Business School's Unit for Corporate Governance in Africa on behalf of the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) has been released.
