Among the most stable democracies in
Africa, Cape Verde lies off the West African bulge. Poor in natural resources,
it attained one of the highest living standards in Africa thanks to tourism and
large diaspora remittances. Its 80 percent adult literacy rate is among the
best in Africa.
Food for Thought
A nascent
private sector, far too few qualified faculty members, marginal primary and secondary
preparation, and historical ambivalence - or even antagonism - between higher education
and the private sector all serve to exacerbate the legacy of insufficient financial
investment in graduate management education activities.
