Lesotho is a small, landlocked country with
a well-educated population. The small industrial sector centers on apparel
exports and sales of water to South Africa from a large hydro-electric complex.
HIV/AIDS is taking a huge toll on the population and there is a strong emphasis
in the national development strategy to improve health and education throughout
the country.
Food for Thought
A nascent
private sector, far too few qualified faculty members, marginal primary and secondary
preparation, and historical ambivalence - or even antagonism - between higher education
and the private sector all serve to exacerbate the legacy of insufficient financial
investment in graduate management education activities.
