With a per capita income of about $ 2,000 the Kingdom of Morocco is the poorer of the three Maghrebian countries. Mainly owing to poor female access to education, the adult literacy rate of 52 percent also lags considerably. Morocco’s economy benefits from re-exports to the European Union, tourism and diaspora remittances.
