This online working group is for GBSN Member School staff working with Alumni (from Director to staff level) who would like to connect with like-minded peers from around the world. Members can share their challenges, successes and questions with colleagues from GBSN's international network of business schools. Group members will also have the opportunity to help schools in developing countries that don't have well-established programs and are looking for new ideas.

The Alumni Services Working Group calls are scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month, from 10:00 am- 11:00am (ET - Washington DC time).

Universities are now using social media to engage alumni and to build a network of graduates with a shared affinity. Because many people turn to social media outlets for their information and news, it is vital that alumni networks use it to create visibility, engage alumni to become active within the network, share opportunities, fundraise and keep an ongoing communication with alumni and students.

Some questions to think about during this discussion:

In what ways does your alumni network use social media? Why is social media so important in keeping a network connected and engaged? How do you determin what channels to use and how to generate content that will effectively interest your target audience? Does social media impact the diversity of your networks? What are some benefits to using specific outlets (facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, etc)? How do you use social media to promote things to alumni and to students? Is your approach different, when trying to reach students vs. alumni?
