 Welcome Note

Welcome to the ICSB 2014 World Conference which will be hosted in the wonderful city of Dublin. The theme of the conference is ‘Entrepreneurship and Sustainability’ which will address the current international movement towards sustainability – whether that is related to our environment, our cultures, our businesses or our economies. Entrepreneurs, politicians, researchers and consumers are increasingly seeking to find solutions to the challenges of growing economies and businesses that are environmentally sustainable, socially just and rooted locally, and this conference will offer each of you an opportunity to participate in such discussions. While the conference will have the usual mix of keynote speakers, parallel sessions and networking opportunities, ICSB 2014 will also include dedicated sessions for business practitioners and for policy-makers, plus a marketplace where you can do business. The conference will use innovative formats and new technologies so as to maximize the ability of every delegate to benefit from their attendance at the conference. But you cannot visit Dublin without also enjoying the ‘craic’ and we have included an exciting social program which will enable to achieve a nice equilibrium with regards to your work/life balance! We truly believe that you are going to enjoy a memorable experience that will benefit your career outputs and will also leave you with some wonderful life memories. We look forward to meeting you in Dublin, to opening the door and greeting you with the words fáilte isteach / welcome inside.

- Prof. Thomas Cooney

Why Attend?

The ICSB World Conference has traditionally been a wonderful opportunity for entrepreneurs, academics, policy makers, support agents and other players in the entrepreneurship ecosystem to come together and learn from each other’s experiences. ICSB 2014 will be the 59th edition of the conference and past conferences have been held in cities such as Vienna, Washington, Strasbourg, Toronto, Sydney, Stockholm, San Francisco, Seoul, Wellington, Naples, Johannesburg and more.

This is the second occasion that the ICSB World Conference will have been held on the island of Ireland as in 2003 over 1,000 delegates attended the conference in Belfast. There are many reasons why you should attend and these include:

  • Keynote Speakers include globally successful entrepreneurs plus experts from different areas of entrepreneurship
  • Dedicated Entrepreneurs Day, Policy Forum and Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum
  • Special activities for students
  • A mix of 12 track sessions to cater for the diversity of research in the area of entrepreneurship and sustainability
  • A Marketplace for you to interact and do business
  • The opportunity to network with delegates from over 50 countries
  • The use of innovative technologies to maximise the interaction across the various presentations
  • Dedicated social activities for partners of delegates attending the conference
  • A range of superb social events including the Gala Dinner in the Mansion House and a visit to Guinness Storehouse
  • Very competitively priced fees with a menu of options for you to choose for yourself the programme that best suits your needs

There are many more attractions and reasons why you should attend this conference above all others in 2014 and these will be continually revealed to you as we move closer to the start date and the final program is unveiled.

The question really that should be asked is – why would you not attend ICSB 2014 in Dublin next June?
