Overview

Are you looking for a particular type of case but can’t find one that focuses on your particular interests? Do you have a great story about a business dilemma that you would like to share? Or perhaps you’re keen to take the plunge and start writing cases. If so, this case writing workshop is for you.

In this practical and intensive workshop, educators with little or no experience in writing case studies for teaching will learn some ‘tricks of the trade’ and have the time to work on an idea they may already have for a case. The insights and knowledge acquired during this workshop will give you the skills and confidence you need to develop your own highly effective teaching cases.

Participants

This workshop will be of benefit if you want to start writing cases or need to sharpen your case writing skills. It is suitable for:

  • faculty from any academic discipline who have little or no experience of writing cases for teaching purposes
  • business-based trainers interested in preparing their own material for employee development.

Objectives

This is a very practical workshop. Over two full days, you will work individually, in small groups of ‘critical friends’, and as a class to prepare your own draft case, teaching plan and teaching note. You will:
  • appreciate what makes a good case and the importance of a teaching note
  • develop the confidence to write your own cases
  • learn the tools and techniques of case crafting to enhance your students’ learning experience.
