In today's increasingly competitive academic environment, the college classroom remains in a constant state of flux.  Take part in this inaugural event (exclusively for faculty members) to network with colleagues from across the region and learn how to effectively leverage your skills and knowledge to excel in the classroom, as well as the research realm. Join AACSB International as we examine what we know today about learning and the characteristics of “today’s student” and how to ensure they, as stakeholders, are accomplishing their goals of succeeding in the classroom and beyond. This seminar will be delivered entirely in Spanish. The seminar materials provided will also be in Spanish.

Who Should Attend

Faculty who want to continually improve course effectiveness and research impact, directors of teaching and learning centers, faculty new to the classroom or PhD students, and executives transitioning from the corporate world to the classroom.

Learning Outcomes
  • Learn how to create a more engaging and motivating environment for learning.
  • Gain new perspectives into planning, organizing, and delivering courses.
  • Develop class management techniques and teaching skills that inspire and mentor today's students.
  • Determine ways to actively engage students in the learning process, provide feedback, and encourage collaboration and cooperation.
  • Recognize how to balance the need for research productivity while excelling in the classroom.
  • Identify possible areas for personal improvement with regard to teaching effectiveness.
Pre-Seminar Assignment
  • AACSB International will email you prior to the seminar requesting the following information: courses taught/department/area of expertise, and representative presentation topic (see below). By responding with the requested information you will help us better understand your goals for attending this seminar.  Please complete it prior to attending the seminar.
  • You will be asked to give a representative presentation to a small group of your peers, which should last roughly 10-15 minutes in duration.  It is your responsibility and choice on how you would like to use your time slot.  Although it is designed for you to present to your colleagues and get feedback on your teaching style and method, you may also use your time to get feedback on your course documents, exams, and/or course evaluations.  Afterward, you will be critiqued and receive completed evaluations from your peers.  A laptop, CD Projector, and flip chart will be available for you to use during your presentation.  Lastly, if you are an administrator at a business school, feel free to use this time slot as a focus group regarding specific faculty or course issues.
  • Feel free to bring a copy of your course syllabus/schedule, student packet, and student evaluations for at least one of your courses.
If you have questions regarding pre-work please contact Mariza Melton, coordinator, AACSB Seminars at mariza@aacsb.edu.
