Tanzania, with its large and growing domestic population, strategic location, abundance of natural resources and internal political stability, presents a uniquely attractive investment opportunity. The country's economy has been experiencing solid economic growth, with the World Bank reporting projected growth of 7% annually in the next two years. Free-market principles are also firmly engrained and successive Governments have continued to open up and liberalize Tanzania’s economy. In an effort to serve as a gateway to landlocked economies in the heart of Africa, Tanzania is building new transport links. Plans are also underway to hike cargo volume through Tanzania’s main Dar es Salaam port in 2015 by almost 40% over 2013 levels. The recent discovery of more than 15 trillion cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves could hold promising opportunities for public and private-sector stakeholders in the energy industry. This development could also lead to further investment opportunities in sectors of the economy ranging from infrastructure to education.

This Doing Business in Tanzania Forum will feature public sector panelists who will highlight Tanzania’s initiatives and strategies that focus on increasing private sector engagement to boost investment across many sector and economic development. The program will also include business leaders who will share their experiences and best practices.
