Have you glimpsed the future of management education? Or better still, have you or your institution begun to create that future within your campus community? 50+20 presents an opportunity for you to share at an individual or institutional level your emerging examples of “new” management education, with the express aim of re-envisioning our field entirely.
We represent the joint effort of three international professional networks and a growing number of institutional partners who together are producing an agenda for “future” management education. This agenda will be presented at the PRME Global Forum during the Rio+20 Earth Summit in June of 2012.
As you are well aware, the majority of our institutions of higher education are linked to fairly massive bureaucracies famously slow to change even in the face of whitewater conditions and rising tides all around them. Changes which do emerge, though thoughtfully conceived and very laboriously negotiated, are most often small incremental adjustments tied to a host of contingencies. The approach of the 50+20 project is different. It is a blank slate approach to design unfettered by the scaffolding and politics of generations past. We are looking with blinders removed at the world around us and the worlds within us to fashion a vision that is not merely the best in the world, but the best for the world. We can only do this with your help and the broadest input of colleagues around the globe.
In an effort to learn more about Emerging Examples of “future” management education, we are re-launching our online survey (now more concise and focused) to collect examples in all or any of three areas:
(i) the education and development of globally responsible leaders
(ii) inspiring and helping organizations to serve the Global Common Good
(iii) setting the agenda around transformation of the economic system.
It is our hope that you will share with us something a step above what you already do well. Rather, tell us about those programs and policies where you have taken a risk to do something revolutionary, daring and altogether new and different. For these will be the hints and glimmerings of the future we can barely imagine.
Please visit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/50plus20 to complete the Emerging Examples survey during the months of October and November. If you completed in our initial survey you also are welcome to submit further examples or ideas. To learn more about this initiative please visit: http://www.50plus20.org.
