Call for Nominations for the 2010 Africa Investor Tourism Investor Awards
Zimbabwe, South Africa, 30 October 2009: Africa investor (Ai), a leading international investment research and communications group, today announced the call for nominations for its prestigious 2010 Tourism Investor Awards.
The Africa investor Tourism Investor Awards showcases Africa’s tourism investment achievements and raises awareness about Africa as a tourism investment destination. The Awards run alongside the annual Tourism Investment Summit which will be held mid-February 2010.

The Africa investor Tourism Investor Awards showcases Africa’s tourism investment achievements and raises awareness about Africa as a tourism investment destination. The Awards run alongside the annual Tourism Investment Summit which will be held mid-February 2010.
These awards are the first of their kind and will be presented for the following categories:
- Best Initiative in Facilitating SME Tourism Investment
- Tourism Investment Programme of the Year
- Business Resort of the Year
- Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA) of the Year
- Hospitality Management Team of the Year
- Sustainable Tourism Investment of the Year
- Best Initiative in Facilitating SME Tourism Investment
- Hotel Investment of the Year
- Tourism Investment Advisor of the Year
- Business Airline of the Year
- TI 2009 Legacy Investment of the Year
- Business Travel Insurer of the Year
- African Tourism Minister of the Year
Commenting on the Awards, Vice Chairman of Africa investor, Hubert Danso said, “We are delighted to launch the 2010 Call for Entries. The annual Africa investor Tourism Investment Summit and Awards are now acknowledged to be a must-attend event for all those working in the African Tourism Investment Industry.”
Last year’s ceremony saw the participation of Hon. Fernando Sumbana, Minister of Tourism, Mozambique, who was awarded the International Personality of the Year. Alongside him, Hon. Najib Balala, Minister of Tourism, Kenya, won the African Tourism Minister of the Year award. Hon. Catherine Namugala, Minister of Tourism, Zambia, also attended the awards ceremony, as well as other leading international tourism figures.
Other award winners included FIFA President Sepp Blatter, who received the International Tourism Personality of the Year Award, Sun International, Kerzner International Holdings, Safari & Tourism Insurance Brokers, Grant Thornton, and the newest category, Tourism Investor City of the Year, was won by Cape Town.
The 2010 Tourism Investor Awards judging panel includes Geoffrey Lipman, Under Secretary General UN WTO; Dr Bamanga Tukur, Chairman, NEPAD Business Group; Trevor Ward, W Hospitality Group; Irene Visser, Tourism Programme Manager, IFC and Hubert Danso, Vice Chairman, Africa investor.
