Preparations are underway for the 10th global annual survey of graduate business student employers conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®) in partnership with the MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC) and EFMD. The survey, which will launch in February 2011, provides access to job market information and benchmarking opportunities to business schools and their corporate partners.
In early 2010, after one of the deepest global economic downturns, the survey results showed that job prospects for business school graduates in healthcare and pharmaceutical sector remained strong. The survey also revealed that most companies rely on employee referrals to search for job candidates. The majority of employers reported that MBA degree-holders are more competent than other employees at the same job level in managing strategy and innovation, knowledge of general business functions, and in strategic and systems skills.
In 2011, the survey topics will include:- Effect of macroeconomic factors on hiring and recruitment strategies
- Employer propensity to hire graduate business students
- School selection criteria before and after the global recession
- Tangible skills, knowledge, and experience employers seek in MBA graduates
- Intangible traits and abilities employers seek in MBAs
- International student recruitment
Last year, a joint effort of 168 business schools in 37 countries that facilitated the Corporate Recruiters Survey generated a sample of nearly 25,000 unique employer contacts. Of those, 2,367 employers in 57 countries worldwide participated.
Schools that facilitate the survey can look forward to receiving the following free benefits:
- A customized benchmark report that compares a school’s aggregated employer responses against aggregated responses from other schools’ employers.
- The Corporate Recruiters Survey Comprehensive Data Report—a detailed report of findings by industry group, company size, world region, and other employer characteristics.
- Competitive advantage through an early release of the Corporate Recruiters Survey Report, which contextualizes key aspects of the survey, before it is made available to the general public.
- GMAC staff expertise—schools that have questions about the project or data or need additional analysis or help interpreting results can rely on GMAC researchers for assistance.
