GBSN is pleased to announce that the first cohort of the Mid-Level Management Training program (MLMT) has come to a successful conclusion in Abuja, Nigeria. The MLMT was sponsored by Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) to strengthen management capacity in the health sector as a catalyst to improving health outcomes. Duke University provided technical assistance to the NPHCDA, collaborating on the development and delivery of the program from the beginning.

The first cohort included 96 participants representing all 36 zones and the federal territory and the graduation ceremony was presided over by the NPHCDA's CEO, Dr. Muhammed Ali Pate and Minister of State for Health, Alhaji Suleiman Bello offered graduates the key note address. Professor Will Mitchell of Duke University's Fuqua School of Business (GBSN member) and GBSN's COO Nora Brown had the honor of participating in the festivities as well.

GBSN has been actively engaged as the independent evaluator to the program along with faculty from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business (GBSN member) and will continue to work on the post-program impact assessment. The initial assessment report will be available by the end of 2010 and plans for the 2nd MLMT cohort are already underway.
