The Doing Good and Doing Well Conference (DGDW) is a two-day event with interactive panel discussions and keynote speeches on major opportunities and challenges faced by responsible businesses and organizations. Organized by IESE students, the conference attracts professionals and graduate students from around the world, promotes development of innovative strategies and business models, as well as fosters meaningful relationships between industry professionals and graduate students. This year, DGDW’s theme is “The New Bottom Line,” and the conference will explore how social and environmental factors impact the bottom lines of 21st century organizations and corporations.
Now in its 8th year, DGDW, the largest
student-run conference on Responsible Business, will feature over 100
professionals speaking on over 30 panels in 6 key tracks, all focusing on this
year’s theme, “The New Bottom Line”. Tracks include:
- The Importance of Capital for Fostering Development
- Corporate Social Responsibility and Beyond: The Challenges of the Corporate World
- Social Entrepreneurship: Empowering Change
- Innovation and Technology as an Answer to Poverty Alleviation
- Prominent Challenges and Opportunities in Social Development
- The Bottom of the Pyramid
Keynote Speakers & Panelists
DGDW 2011 will also feature four Keynote Speakers who will give inspirational talks that provide their own personal insight to responsible business and other issues affecting our society. The Keynote Speakers are:
- Lord Michael Hastings, Global Head of Citizenship and Diversity, KPMG
- Pamela Hartigan, Director, Skoll Center for Social Entrepreneurship, Oxford University’s Said Business School
- Juliet Schor, Professor of sociology at Boston College, board member & co-founder, Center for a New American Dream
- Maurice van Sabben, President, National Geographic Ventures International

Continuing on the 2010 Conference, DGDW 2011 will also include a Social Entrepreneurial Workshop, and Cleantech Venture Seminar, featuring new start-up organizations in both fields and representatives from the investment community. As well this year, the Conference will launch its 1st Annual Case Competition, sponsoring by McKinsey & Co., featuring competing groups from top business schools around the world. Finally, there will be a Career Forum & Networking event, giving opportunities for professionals and students alike to network and learn more about careers in this rapidly growing space, and a documentary screening room sponsored by National Geographic Ventures International!
