The climate change challenge:
Testing the limits of business leadership

Described by UK economist, Sir Nicholas Stern, as "the greatest market failure the world has seen", climate change presents business leaders with a unique set of challenges.

Jonathan Hanks, lead author of the 2009 Carbon Disclosure Project (South Africa) report, will identify the implications of climate change for business leadership and, drawing on his recently completed analysis of the climate change strategies of the JSE Top 100 companies, will critically assess the nature of the South African business response. His review will include some of the key policy developments – locally and internationally – ahead of the climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December.

Come and listen to Hanks's assessment of the extent to which South African business is demonstrating the required leadership qualities.

Food for Thought

“Most of Africa's health organizations and local NGOs — many of which receive millions in aid — suffer from a lack of management skills.”
