NOVAFRICA aims at producing distinctive expertise on economic development in Africa. A particular focus is on Portuguese-speaking Africa, i.e., Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and Sao Tome and Principe.

Central to our activity is an in-depth understanding of the target economies, including their institutions, private sector, and civil society. We believe that development is about a myriad of successful micro-experiences that we want to document, understand and communicate. We value multidisciplinary approaches to the role of individuals, organizations and institutions in the process of prosperity creation. We ground our knowledge on the top-quality economic and management research that we produce. This research is meant to reach all interested stakeholders through policy recommendations, operational and strategic advice to companies and organizations, consultancy and capacity building in Africa.

Mentoring Case Writers from Inspiration to Instruction

September 30, 10:00 am EST

For many business schools in the developing world there is a dearth of locally relevant cases easily accesible for instruction.  Many faculty and institutions are focusing on developing more local relevant cases for their courses, however developing a case study can be a daunting and time consuming task.  In addition to the importance of writing cases, case teaching is a unique skill that professors hone over time.  Case writing and teaching can be much more effective when matched with a supportive team for mentoring.  Join us for this webinar event as we focus on exploring the best practice for mentoring case writers.

Objectives of the Webinar
  • Learn what case mentoring is and what makes a good case mentor
  • Find out about the process of case mentoring from the initial outreach to the corporate interviews, writing, and ultimately instruction
  • Discover some of the internal and external factors that will promote the success of a case or provide roadblocks
  • Review personal examples from an experienced case mentor

Presented by Leif Sjoblom, Professor of Financial Management, IMD Click here for more information.

Food for Thought

“This dearth of management training also hinders micro, small, and midsize businesses. These are the largest source of jobs in most developing countries.”
