Guy PfeffermannI am a development economist, and have spent much of my professional life studying why some countries rise out of poverty while others remain poor. Surprisingly, very few researchers have focused on the quality of management as a driver of economic and social progress. Fortunately, recent papers by Nick Bloom of Stanford’s Centre for Economic Performance and several of his colleagues consider the issue, and they have come up with amazing empirical evidence.
