INSEAD is pleased to announce the INSEAD African Faculty Fellowship program
for the academic year 2009/2010. This fellowship is open to two faculty members of
the Global Business School Network’s African partner schools who are interested in
developing their careers in research and teaching to their fullest potential. Fellows
will spend two months during the academic year 2009/10 at INSEAD, at either of the
school’s two campuses – in Fontainebleau, France or in Singapore - depending upon
the preferences of the Fellowship winners and prospective INSEAD faculty mentors.
The choice of months would be left to the Fellows to decide jointly with relevant
INSEAD faculty.
The objectives of the Fellowship are to assist in capacity building of African business
schools and to deepen INSEAD’s commitment to being “The Business School for the
World”.
Potential applicants should explore INSEAD’s web site at :
http://www.insead.edu/home/.
Terms of the Fellowship
The Fellowship will cover all necessary expenses related to a two-month visit to
INSEAD: travel, housing, and a daily living allowance.
The Fellows will be welcomed by INSEAD’s African Initiative, part of the school’s
Social Innovation Center. INSEAD will assist the Fellows with obtaining visas and
housing. The Fellows will be given office accommodations and limited secretarial
support with faculty in their academic area who may serve as mentors. They will be
invited to attend research seminars and workshops, and they also may be granted
funds for research or case writing projects jointly with INSEAD faculty. With the
agreement of INSEAD faculty, they may sit in on classes. Finally, they will have
access to all school facilities including the restaurant, library, and IT. They will be
identified on the school’s faculty web site as “Visiting Scholars”.
In return, beyond pursuing their own projects, the Fellows will be expected to attend
research seminars and workshops, to sit in on class sessions at the invitation of
faculty, to interact with faculty, administrative staff, and participants, and to serve as
guest speaker in class if requested.
Fellows must see this experience as an opportunity for both personal and institutional
development. Upon returning home, they will be expected to share the rewards of
their professional enrichment with their home institutions, in keeping with INSEAD’s
objective of capacity building of Sub-Saharan African business schools.
Finally, they will be asked to write a follow-up report on how their visit to INSEAD
served them and the objectives of the Fellowship.
The Application Process
Applicants must be faculty active in research and teaching and with the potential for -
