|Program: Building Capacity to Train Healthcare Providers in Nigeria|
GBSN worked with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business on the Mid-Level Management Training Program (MLMT), a federally supported training program for primary health care workers in Nigeria.
GBSN acted as the independent evaluator of the program and has worked with the partners since the program began in December 2009. GBSN collaborated with UC Berkeley to develop evaluation tools, collect program data, and provide an assessment of the program’s impact. The first cohort included 96 participants representing all 36 zones and the federal territory.
By testing knowledge transfer, participant satisfaction, and change in confidence levels, GBSN evaluated the immediate impact of the course on the participants as it was delivered. After the completion of the first cohort, GBSN has worked with the primary health care officers across Nigeria to collect performance evaluations from participants and their supervisors, as well as from a comparison group, to determine if the course had a positive impact in management effectiveness.
