GBSN worked with the Institut Supérieur de Management
(ISM) in Senegal to produce business case studies of Francophone
African companies. The project was funded by GRAVITAS Capital Advisors, an independent investment advisory firm, ISM, as well as a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
Business case studies connect students with the private sector, giving
them practical knowledge of how to deal with real world situations.
Many African business schools are currently transitioning to the case
teaching method. GBSN has worked with
local business school faculty to increase their capacity to teach and
develop business case studies in South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and
Nigeria. However, there are few case studies that focus on companies
and business practices in Francophone African countries. This program aimed to fill that gap.
ISM faculty are integrating the cases into their
curriculum. GBSN hopes to expand the project to train additional
business school faculty in Francophone Africa to write and teach case
studies.
“Global partnerships
between business schools, development agencies, and the private sector allow
for innovative approaches to development initiatives. Such partnerships leverage the expertise of business schools
and translate global best practice into local context.”
